Describe your opinion in a paragraph of 60 words as a response to the one stated below.
In my opinion the influence of technology use in education is underplayed by people who do not have an idea of its value.
"Technology enables students to learn in ways not previously possible." The National Educational Technology Standards Projects (NETS) made the statement.
What do you think of the statement?

I think technology is not downplayed at all. (And yes, the word is downplay and not underplay)
Rather, I think that people realistically see the opposing factors - such as the lack of such technology in schools, the lack of interest on the part of students to use their internet for such things, and the foolishness of a course that teaches us such self-explanatory things as creating a drag-and-drop website, or using MS Word.
Seriously, there are much better things to learn that aren't so clearly set out in the "help" menu. All it takes to pass this course with flying colours is half the brain of a squirrel and a working finger with which to press the "F1" key.
Sorry for being cynical... but there is a lot of truth in what I said.
201003494 not all learners are from a fortunate background as you and me are probabply from hey, they didnt get the cahnce to be exposed to computers in primary and high schools so such things are needed even though some others might be bored but we have to consider everyone so that we are all in the same level.. technology has made learning and teaching much more easier and quicker. so those 'drag and drops' are very important to others even though you might find them boring
In my experince as a tutor in computer studies and my experience as a child of the working class.Learners always struggle with computers, let alone if they have to do assignments and write tests on a compueter
I am of the view that inventing and use of technology plays a vital role in the learning of a student and in the transferring of knowledge from educators to learners. It has opened new possibilities for effective learning. There are some disadvantages to the use of technology but they are far out-numbered in comparison to the advantages. Computers, overhead-projectors and all the technologies used are xtremely useful in everyday learning.Therefore,the use of technology in education is absolutely valueable.
Technology has helped me immensely during my studies. It allows us to be faster and more effective with our work, and allows access to all sorts of resources. I think that more computers should be set up in schools as they are a neccessity! Technology is the way of the future - why not do ALL school work on the computer??
do not feel that technology is downplayed at all.On the contrary however, students as well as teachers in todays times make full use of technology to assist them with taeching and learning. Furthermore, I do realise that there are some pupils who are disadvantaged as they may come from poor backgrounds and do not have the priveledges of using technology. Summing up, technology is fast becoming a very useful tool in the field of theaching and should it be made available to all could prove immensely useful!
I have learned a lot from technology. Although I hate everything about it, (not all of us a wizards when it comes to computers)but I nedd to face the harsh reality that the world cannot function without computers. computers depress me.

I think that technology is useful when it comes to education as it allows students to access information effectively and effeciently... sometimes books and journals in the library arent available and the only other resource would be online journals... without technology, how would we access necessary information for research??

Computer usage in education helps the students to understand the topic that they are dealing with because they are able to go to the internet if they do not understand the topic and find out more. Technology has helped us to do our work and other things in a quicker and easier way. Technology makes our lives easier.

i believe technology plays an vital important role in teaching and learning however it should be relevant in to teaching and learning at schools, but i have an concerned because most people who use teachnology becomes lazy because their believe that everything it there not some people it in the negative content in teaching and learning at schools

I think that technology is not underplayed. For those who have exposure to technology admire and tressure it because its importance in very wide-especially for learning in schools. while those who do not have technology in their schools wish for at least 1 or 2 technical appliances.It is beknowst to those have it iver those who do not, and mindset they think they are better than those who do not have it at all. For A learner who is to experience technical-or technology oriented for the first time there should always be an expert who shall mediate such learning in process as to avoid underplaying technology or using it for irrelevant purposes. For example, pupils who have not been taught how much important computers are for their learning will obvously surf Facebook, play music and watch movies instead of learning. That is then an action of underplaying technology.But it depends heavily on guidance and the environment and socio-economic stand of that particular school in need of technology for learning and that of the school which aleready has technology. Due to certain reasons, learning technology happens to land onto the school (s) where even teachers have no clue of how much important techonology is for learning while there are schools out there with teachers who have good learning-technology backgrounds and technichally oriented but they are without technology.

While many of these technologies are incremental improvements over what is already available, others completely break from the pattern and redefine entire industries, change our mode of thinking about something, or just introduce new concepts to our knowledge bank. technology has indeed played a crucial role towards improving the standard and quality of education. Since technological tools have been introduced in our classrooms we have seen a significant improved in learner perfomance and participation.
In this modern age learners are using social networking sites in numbers so it would be a good notion to teach and inform them through such tools.through making use of excel, videos, audio e.t.c a teacher is able to accommodate all types of learners such as visual, kinesthetic, auditory and so on.

i believe that technology helps students to understand their subjects much better> unfortunatly not everyone had the privalage to use technology in their school years. Therefore i believe that eventough technology such as a pc and internet can help i student i believe that a students knowledge of their subject and contents can not be measured by their knowledge of technology but by their understanding.
